Brandon Okumura is an Canadian-American Cantonese-Japanese film director based in Los Angeles. A champion of minority and LGBTQ+ representation in front of and behind the camera, Brandon specializes in directing comedies about family, relationships, and the absurdities of daily life through a BIPOC lens.
His short film, THREE LADIES & A FAKE ID, is an official selection at the 2025 Austin Film Festival, 2026 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and 2026 CAAMFest. His other film, MANEKI, was an official selection at the 2022 Austin Film Festival, Outfest Fusion, and the San Diego Asian Film Festival. In 2018, Brandon founded Okie Media, a creative video production company, and has since produced multiple film projects with clients such as Riot Games, Sony Pictures, NBC News, Netflix, UC Davis, PNC Bank, Quicken, and the San Francisco Bay Ferry.
In his free time, Brandon enjoys swimming in the ocean, rock climbing, yoyoing, and eating at new restaurants.
