Brandon Okumura is a multihyphenate film director based in Los Angeles who began making films at age 13. A champion of minority and LGBTQ+ representation in front of and behind the camera, Brandon specializes in directing comedies about mental health, relationships, growing up, and the absurdities of daily life through a BIPOC lens.
His recent short film, Maneki, was an official selection at the 2022 Austin Film Festival, Asian American International Film Festival, Boston Asian American Film Festival, and the San Diego Asian Film Festival. His other short film, Nothing Personal, was selected for the 2023 Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival.
In 2018, Brandon founded Okie Media, a creative video production company, and has since produced multiple film projects with clients such as NBC News, Netflix, UC Davis, Quicken, and the San Francisco Bay Ferry.
In his free time, Brandon enjoys swimming in the ocean, rock climbing, playing guitar, and playing video games.
